TUITION
Keeping Tuition Affordable
Recognizing that a Christian education often comes with a significant financial commitment for many families, Whitinsville Christian School diligently strives to keep tuition affordable. The Finance Committee, under the direction of the Board of Trustees, consistently and creatively works to keep tuition costs as low as possible without compromising the integrity of the educational experience.
A recent and highly significant addition to our financial model has been Trea$ures, an upscale thrift store located in Koopman Plaza in North Grafton. Since its opening in June 2008, Trea$ures has contributed $246,000 toward tuition reduction at WCS with its contribution increasing each year. In addition, assistance to families from the Tuition Assistance Program has increased appreciably over the past five years. Our Tuition Reduction Incentive Program (TRIP) is a tuition assistance opportunity open to all WCS families. TRIP is currently saving participating families an average of $300 per year; however, very dedicated families save over $1,000 each year and many families save in the range of $500 to $1000 each year.
Tuition Assistance Program
Tuition assistance for grades K-12 is available through the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP). This school year, approximately 18% of the student body (94 students from 50 families) received financial assistance, and the average award was $1,140.
TAP applications for the 2011-2012 school year are now available and may be requested from the High School Office or the Business Office. As in the past, WCS will be using Christian School Tuition Assistance Services, a needs analysis service to Christian schools, to process applications. The single-page form must be submitted with a copy of the 2010 tax return and an $18.00 filing fee. Applications must be submitted by March 31 to be given priority consideration for an award for the next school year. If you have any questions please call Thalia Towle in the Business Office: (508) 234-8211, ext. 26.
Tuition Reduction Incentive Program
All families are welcome to participate in the Tuition Reduction Incentive Program (TRIP) that helps parents reduce their tuition obligation through the purchase of gift cards and certificates from local and national retail stores at a discount. The extensive list of participating retailers includes popular grocery stores, gas stations, restaurants, and entertainment venues, as well as several specialty merchants and discount chains. The cards are sold at face value to families who participate in the program, and the discount is passed on to them directly in the form of tuition credits. To find out more, please visit our TRIP page, e-mail the WCS Development Office at trip@wcs.mec.edu or contact us at (508) 234-8211, ext. 11.
