Strings Program

Over 125 Whitinsville Christian School students K-12 are involved in learning to play stringed instruments using the Suzuki method. We have three levels of orchestra plus an advanced chamber group. Approximately 45 of our more advanced students go on a concert tour every other year.

Many WCS students participate in the District and All-State orchestras. Two have reached the All-Eastern level and one was a member of the National Honors Orchestra.

All Orchestras Concert

The all-orchestras concert is May 16 at 7pm at Northbridge High School. There is no admission fee for this concert. The concert dress is formal black and whites. More details will follow.

Summer Strings 2008

There are three opportunities for enrichment this summer for WCS Strings students and “strings wannabees” at Fairlawn Christian Reformed Church the week of Jul. 28 – Aug. 1.
1. “Strings in Summer” is a summer “camp” offered to strings students pre-school age through grade 5 graduates. It will be held from 9am to noon. Registration forms were emailed to parents this week. They are also available from WCS Strings teachers and from Jennifer Bernheisel in the strings office.
2. A special feature of “Strings in Summer” is a class for Pre-Twinklers” - parents and children who wish to experience what the violin, viola, or cello is all about. If you want more information about this class, please call Mrs. Sharon Thayer at 508-865-0226.
3. “Small Ensemble Experience” is a summer “camp” offered to competent stringed instrument readers of all ages. Eligible students will receive an application from their private teacher. Students will be grouped into quartets, trios, etc. according to age, ability, and experience. This camp will be held from 1-3pm.
