Modern American History: 1964-Present
In this course students will take an in-depth look at American History from the late 1960s to today. The presidencies of Lyndon Baines Johnson to George W. Bush will be covered in detail, along with a daily following of the current administration. Topics and themes will include: Political Campaigns and Scandals, The Role of Government, States Rights, The War on Terror, Civil Rights, The Fall of the U.S.S.R., The Iraq Wars, The Kosovo Conflict, Religious Extremism and Terrorism, and The Economy. The course will feature a prominent amount of both student- and teacher-led discussion. Students will be expected and encouraged to engage in debate and will be pressed to form their own conclusions when presented with facts and information.
Elective – 2.5 credits
