Mass Media (not offered 2009-2010)
In this course the messages through visual images that have become a part of the fabric of contemporary life will be analyzed. Since the language of television, film and advertising has displaced the language of books, magazines and letters to an astonishing degree, students need to develop the skills that equip them to deconstruct visual text and employ visual media in their communication patterns. In this class, students will learn to become media literate citizens of America and of the kingdom of God. Highlights include producing a film, studying television genres, and deconstructing advertisements.
