Java Programming
In this course, the student will learn the fundamentals of the Java language and object oriented programming: writing classes and methods, declaring constants and variables, arithmetic expressions, classes and objects, constructors, methods, and inheritance. The student will understand the concept of an algorithm; implement algorithms in java using assignment, if-else statements and simple loops. Students will design, implement, and debug object-oriented programs comprised of multiple classes. The course will also provide the student with an understanding of the basic elements of computer hardware and software and their roles in a computer system. Relevant topics in number theory will also be presented. For homework, it is recommended that the student have access to a PC (W2K, XP or Linux) with 200MB free disk space and internet access.
