MATHEMATICS
Two full years of math are required for graduation; however, three full years are strongly recommended. Most colleges require a minimum of three years for admission and four years for students whose vocational choices demand proficiency in mathematics. Two levels of mathematics are offered in Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II. Trigonometry/PreCalculus and Statistics are Level I courses, and Calculus is an Honors course. Level I courses are intended for students who are more proficient in mathematics and need more rigorous mathematics courses for their career choices or college work. Level II courses are intended for students who have had more difficulty in mathematics. Both Level I and Level II courses will prepare students to meet the requirements to enroll in most four-year colleges. Advanced tracking is available for those students desiring 5 plus years of high school mathematics. Students wishing to advance track must enroll in Algebra II Level I and Geometry Level I during their sophomore year upon meeting departmental criteria and teacher recommendation.
