WPI Teen Venture Camp
Worcester Polytechnic Institute will host a Teen
Venture Camp from Jun. 23-27, 2008. The camp is designed for entrepreneurial-minded
high school students who want to start their own summer businesses.
Students must be able to work independently and in teams in this hands-on,
learn-by-doing
environment. The camp fee is $295 which includes all supplies, meals,
snacks, a backpack, notebook full of resources, and upon graduation,
a T-shirt and
frameable certificate. Enrollment is capped at 40 students. A limited

Bay Path College “It’s My Business” Summer Program
Bay Path is offering a summer program for rising sophomore, junior
or senior girls who are interested in business entrepreneurship.
During the program students will spend time with prominent entrepreneurs
and CEOs and be mentored by college faculty who will help them
design a winning business plan. This one-week non-residential program
will be held July 14-18, 2008, at the campus in Longmeadow, MA.

Boston University ITRP Summer Program
The Institute for Television,
Film & Radio production (ITRP) at Boston University offers high school
students a complete media production experience. This five-week
program gives students an opportunity to work with experienced
faculty members
and staff, learning effective storytelling by creating their own
films, videos, webcasts and live multi-camera productions. For

UMass Amherst Summer Reading Skills Program
Would you like to see your child improve his/her reading ability over the summer?
UMass Amherst Outreach offers a number of programs to help your child with phonics,
comprehension, vocabulary, study skills, and speed reading, as well as to help instill
a lifelong love of reading. Customized programs for every age are available
in Shrewsbury and Worcester for Pre-K through grade 12 as well as for college

RIT Summer Program for Hearing-Impaired Students
The Rochester Institute of Technology offers two, six-day summer career exploration
programs for rising high school juniors and seniors with hearing loss. The “Explore
Your Future” program gives students the opportunity to explore career
interests hands-on, experience college life, take classes with
RIT/NTID faculty experienced in working with the hearing impaired,
and meet other deaf and hard-of-hearing students from all over the country. The
first session runs from July 19-24 and the second is July 26-31,
2008. The application deadline is May 31. The cost of $560 covers room, board and program

U.S. Performing Arts & Media Camps
U.S. Performing Arts Camps is world’s leading summer training program for young
artists. These residential programs are held at major universities throughout
the United States. Students work with faculty from the theater, dance, film and
media departments of the universities and have the opportunity to find the
“perfect fit” for their college program. College credit is available for high

Camp Woodhaven
This Christian summer day camp in West Boylston, MA, is especially for boys
and girls ages 5 to 15. Program dates are Jun. 23-Aug. 22, 8:30am-4:30pm
Mon - Fri. Extended day programs are available at an additional
cost. Bus transportation is available from Auburn, Clinton,
Northborough,

PROMYS
Programs in Mathematics for Young Scientists. PROMYS is a six-week
summer residential program offering an intensive experience in creative
mathematical exploration at Boston University. This year’s dates are June 29-August
9. Directed by Professor Glen Stevens, the program has 65 slots available
for ambitious high school students with an exceptionally strong interest
in mathematics. Tuition is $2,500, and financial assistance is available.

WPI Summer High School Programs
WPI offers three summer programs for high school students interested in
science, technology and engineering. WPI
Frontiers is a two-week residential
program (July 13-25, 2008) for rising juniors and seniors that blends
aerospace engineering, mathematics, robotics, computer science and
chemistry/biochemistry with communication workshops and diverse social
activities. WPI
Launch,
for
rising freshmen and sophomores, is a five-day program (Aug. 4-8, 2008)
offering workshops in biology, chemistry/biochemistry, interactive
media and game
development, or robotics using a small-team approach. WPI
Strive is
a one-week residential program (July 6-12, 2008) for African America,
Latino and American
Indian high school students focusing on hands-on exploration of engineering,
math and science through field and laboratory work. You may also be

Ithaca Pre-College Summer Programs
Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY, offers three- and five-week college-credit
sessions for rising juniors and seniors, and a one-week minicourse
session for all qualified high school students. Students in the
three-week session may earn 3 credits and choose one of six courses in acting, health
sciences, law, musical theater, politics or sports management.
Students in the five-week sessions may earn 6-8 credits and select two courses
in the performing arts, communications, the humanities, music, business, and the
social sciences. One-week minicourses are offered in sports media,
chemistry, digital photography, writing short stories or college application essays,
and field ecology. All programs are enhanced by a full roster of co-curricular

Boston University Summer High School Programs
Boston University offers two summer programs for high school students:
the Honors Program for rising seniors and Summer Challenge for
rising sophomores, juniors and seniors.
In the six-week Honors program, seniors may earn up to 8 college
credits in two undergraduate courses, or pursue scientific research
under faculty guidance. The two-week Summer Challenge gives rising
sophomores, juniors or seniors the choice of two non-credit seminars

Economics for Leaders
This one-week, residential summer program for juniors
is designed to help students develop an appreciation of different
leadership styles; an understanding for how economic reasoning
is integral to decision-making;
and an economic way of thinking about public policy choices. Economics
for Leaders will be held on college campuses throughout the United
States and
led by university economics professors. Sessions in our region
are scheduled for July 27-August 3 at Tufts University in Boston
and for July 6-13 at

4-Star Camps at the University of Virginia
4Star Camps offers academic enrichment opportunities for junior high and
senior high students, as well as SAT/ACT Prep and American Studies
for International Students, all on the beautiful University of
Virginia campus in Charlottesville.
Instructors are experienced education professionals in their given
subject area or graduate students all chosen to teach based upon
their knowledge and proven interaction with students. Students
are allowed to create
their
own experience, with a choice of activities in the afternoon including
sports, tennis, golf, soccer, fitness, SCUBA instruction or fine

Outward Bound Wilderness Programs

Curry College Learning Academy
Curry College in Milton, Massachusetts, offers a one-week summer residential
program for rising high school seniors with learning disabilities. The summer
program is built around Curry’s well-known PAL program (Program for
Advancement of Learning) which has helped many college-able
students with learning disabilities succeed at Curry College.
Students will go through a process to discover their strengths
and develops ways to use their strengths. They will also develop strategies
in studying and test-taking, organization and time management, note-taking/mapping,
reading comprehension, written communication, and active listening. Two sessions will
be offered—Session 1 is June 22-June 27 and Session 2 is July 27-August 1.

Junior Statesmen Foundation Summer Programs
For many decades, the non-partisan Junior Statesman Summer School has provided
an unparalleled experience for building tomorrow’s statesmen and civic
leaders. With programs at Georgetown, Yale, Princeton and Stanford,
the Junior Statesmen Foundation presents students with an advanced
college curriculum and the opportunity to immerse themselves in the dynamics and inner
workings of politics, government, debate and persuasion. This year
Junior Statesmen participants will have the opportunity to participate in the 2008

Summer Institute for the Gifted
For 23 years, SIG has been offering high quality programs for academically
advanced students at some of the most prestigious institutions of higher
learning in the nation. In 2008, residential session for students in grades
4-11 will be held at Amherst College, Bryn Mawr College, Emory University,
UC Berkeley, UCLA, University of Michigan and Vassar College. A new session
at the University of Texas at Austin will focus on math and sciences and
a program at Princeton University is geared for 7th-11th graders. SIG also
offers a day program for gifted students in grades K-6 at several universities.

SAIC Summer Institute 2008
The School of the Art Institute of Chicago offers an early college program
for high school students in a variety of creative arts disciplines—painting,
photography, video and film animation, writing, architecture and
more. Students can earn three college credits in Session 1, which
runs June 23-July 11,

Tufts Univ./Cummings Vet School Summer Program 2008
Do you have what it takes to be a veterinarian? The Cummings School of
Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University in North Grafton, Mass.,
offers Adventures in Veterinary Medicine, a summer program for
middle school, high school and college students as well as adults to take a realistic
look at what attending vet school is like. Admission is for the
middle school day program is first-come, first served. Admission is competitive for

Cornell University Summer Program
