Academics

WCS is an academically challenging high school that supports and encourages your child to stretch, explore and excel in many non-academic arenas as well. Our programs in sports, music, visual arts, drama, and our service and special interest clubs, give students many avenues to develop their whole person in a distinctively Christian way.  The Activities and Events Handbook gives you a glimpse into what is available.

Whitinsville Christian High School is a four-year comprehensive program working closely with the home and church to prepare students for further education and work experiences. WCS offers a full academic curriculum at the high school level including Bible, business, computer science, English, history, math, science (biology, chemistry, and physics), social studies, art, music, and physical education.  Honors and AP® courses are taught.  Internet access is provided in the classrooms, library, computer lab, and in the Guidance Suite.  Opportunities to participate in additional AP® and elective classes are now available through our partnership with Virtual High School.  In addition to academic requirements for graduation, high school students must participate in a service program each year. WCS graduates are accepted to a wide range of top-level colleges and universities, both Christian and secular. More than 90% of our students go on to earn college degrees.

Arts

Imagination and creativity are the birthrights of humanity. Made in the image of God, our students reflect His beauty and glory when they create and perform art. Whitinsville Christian High School arts programs address the diverse needs of high school students in the areas of visual and performing arts.

An evening to celebrate the arts is an annual event that includes performances in drama and music as well as a large art exhibit representing the work of students from elementary through high school.

Visual Arts - The high school art curriculum offers students a wide choice of courses including photography, sculpture, and printmaking as well as trips to Boston and Providence and lectures by visiting artists.

Music - Our music programs are designed to help students develop their musical gifts to the praise and glory of God and for the enjoyment and inspiration of others. Choir and Band are electives for high school students. Our high school choir includes about 110 students, some of whom comprise a touring choir which has sung in the Worcester Centrum, Fenway Park, Yankee Stadium, Independence Mall in Philadelphia, and at the Lincoln Memorial.   Our strings program is well-known throughout America. We have three levels of orchestra plus an advanced chamber group. Approximately 45 of our more advanced students go on a concert tour every other year. Many WCS students participate in the District and All-State orchestras. Two have reached the All-Eastern level and one was a member of the National Honors Orchestra.

Drama - Drama is an extra-curricular activity at WCS. High school students have the opportunity to try out for two major dramatic performances each year. This past year, the high school drama performed "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" and "The Music Man."

Athletics

Students at Whitinsville Christian School are encouraged to develop their physical gifts through a wide variety of competitive athletic opportunities.  We believe that every aspect of life, including the physical, matters to God.  Godly men and women serving as our coaches challenge our student-athletes to use their God-given athletic gifts while teaching them the value of teamwork, commitment, dedication, perseverance, and leadership.  Many of our teams as well as individual athletes qualify for District competition on a regular basis, and some of our teams and athletes compete regularly at the State level.  Girls' and boys' cross country teams have gone on to state competition for the past several years, and our boys' varsity basketball team were the Massachusetts Division III state champions in 2005.  Our competitive athletics program through the MIAA is available to students in grades 7-12 and we are part of the Dual Valley Conference for all sports except volleyball.
