European History
The class will begin by studying the Renaissance and Reformation and proceed through the following topics: the growth of European states, the scientific revolution and the Enlightenment, the French Revolution and Napoleon, the revolutions of the mid-19th century, the Industrial Revolution, the British in India and other colonial empires, World War I, the inter war period, World War
II, and the Cold War. Films and outside reading may be used. Students may give
weekly reports on various topics.
