 ARTS

Imagination and creativity are the birthrights of humanity. Made in the image of God, our students reflect His beauty and glory when they create and perform art.

Whitinsville Christian School arts programs address the diverse needs of elementary, middle, and high school students in the areas of visual and performing arts.

In addition to an extensive curriculum, we offer field trips and performance opportunities in Boston, Worcester, Providence, and other cities. Our strings program involves more than 125 students and is well-known throughout America. Students have given concerts in Canada and Europe as well.

An evening to celebrate the arts is an annual event that includes performances in drama and music as well as a large art exhibit representing the work of students from elementary through high school.

Visual Arts

Elementary students receive a basic introduction to the history and making of art in weekly sessions.

Middle schoolers are introduced to a variety of art and design disciplines as well as art history through an encore framework.

The high school art curriculum offers students a wide choice of courses including photography, sculpture, and printmaking as well as trips to Boston and Providence and lectures by visiting artists.

Music

Music is a part of our days at Whitinsville Christian School. Our programs are designed to help students develop their musical gifts to the praise and glory of God and for the enjoyment and inspiration of others. Elementary students take part in weekly music classes, and perform in a musical every other year. Choir and Band are electives for middle and high school students.  Our middle school choir performs an annual musical.  Our high school choir includes about 60 students, some of whom comprise a touring choir which has sung in the Worcester Centrum, Fenway Park, Yankee Stadium, Independence Mall in Philadelphia, and at the Lincoln Memorial.  Three levels of band instruction begin with 6th grade (beginning band) and include middle and high school band.

Strings Program - Our Strings Program involves more than 100 students PreK-12 who learn to play violin, viola, cello and bass using the Suzuki Method. Besides weekly private and group lessons, we have four levels of orchestra as well as a Preparatory and Advanced Chamber Orchestra. Every other year our more advanced students go on a service oriented tour during our Spring Break. Many of the WCS strings students are selected through auditions to play with Massachusetts Middle School and High School Central District and All-State Orchestras and some students have been recommended for and participated in the All-Eastern or National Honors Orchestras.

Drama

Drama is an extra-curricular activity at W.C.S. Elementary students participate in a musical performance for parents. In addition to encores in drama, middle schoolers can take part in the annual choir musical. High school students have opportunities to try out for two major dramatic performances each year.  Visit our drama page to see the variety of performances over the last few years.
