Algebra I (Level 2)
Algebra is the language of mathematics. This course begins with a review of solving equations and working with variables, introduced in grade 8. These skills are then extended to working with formulas, graphing equations and restating word problems as equations. Operations with algebraic expressions, factoring, polynomials and solving quadratic equations by factoring are also investigated. Considerable time is given to developing and practicing the algebra skills that are learned. An inexpensive scientific calculator is required.
