Academics

Whitinsville Christian School is dedicated to the glory of God and recognizes the authority of the Scriptures as interpreted by the confessional standards of the Reformed faith. We are committed to academic excellence, which we believe is only possible from a God-centered world view. Our teachers are qualified professionals devoted to preparing students for service to God and their neighbors in every area of life.  The goal of education here at WCS is to help students achieve life's purpose: to know and serve God.

Whitinsville Christian School is a member of Christian Schools International and is fully accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.  Following a recent visit to WCS, members of the NEASC accreditation committee reported that they were "energized to be surrounded by a school community dedicated to genuine values," and "saw evidence of the love, faith and respect that are so much a part of WCS in every face, every program and every classroom."

Stepping Stone Preschool - Children ages 3 and 4

"The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it."  (Psalm 24:1).  Our youngest students at Stepping Stone Preschool enjoy an environment of fun, warmth, security, exploring and discovery.  We're teaching our students to make the world a better place, to build God's kingdom.

Stepping Stone's curriculum includes circle times, stories, songs and fingerplays, creative art and craft activities, outdoor play, large muscle activities, field trips throughout the community, cooking, science and nature activities, exposure to shapes, colors, numbers and letters, and celebrations of birthdays and holidays.

Elementary - Grades K-5

Our Elementary School currently has approximately 190 students in grades K-5. Our curriculum includes Bible, a phonics and skills based reading program, a hands-on math program, social studies, science, language arts, map skills, art, music, and physical education. Weekly library instruction is provided for all grades, and Spanish is offered in grades 3-5. Our Discovery Program assists students with learning difficulties.

Elementary activities include student-led chapels, an annual Read-a-thon, and a summer reading program.

WCS students consistently score near the 90th percentile on standardized tests.

Middle School - Grades 6-8

Many of our middle school students rank between the 80th and 90th percentiles in the IOWA tests given each year. A number of our students in grades 7 and 8 are also eligible to take early SATs and in so doing earn scores equal to or above those of college-bound seniors. We offer a strong and exciting core curriculum that includes: Bible, English, Math,
Science, and Social Studies. The content of these courses are presented in a variety of ways so various leaning styles of students are met. Whenever possible, hands-on activities are used to teach or supplement what is being taught. Besides these core subjects, required encore classes include Art, Keyboarding (typing), Physical education, and Spanish. In addition, some encore classes can be selected; these include Choir, Band, Orchestra, Drama, Music Theory, and Storytelling. All encore classes are taught during the school day.

High School - Grades 9-12

Whitinsville Christian High School is a four-year comprehensive program working closely with the home and church to prepare students for further education and work experiences. WCS offers a full academic curriculum at the high school level including Bible, business, computer science, English, history, math, science (biology, chemistry, and physics), social studies, art, music, and physical education. Internet access is available in the classrooms, library, and computer lab. Opportunities to participate in additional classes are now available through virtual high school classes. In addition to academic requirements for graduation, high school students must participate in a service program each year. Over 90% of our students go on to earn college degrees.

Our high school curriculum guide, which includes graduation requirements, provides a description of all classes offered at Whitinsville Christian High School.
